A short post from a great non-tumblr blog I follow. It’s basically about how there are types of pain and types of joy that are commonly experienced but not commonly talked about because of social expectations (e.g. it might bother you that a certain relative is visiting, but you are supposed to love your family OR you might enjoy being wasteful or lazy, but society wouldn’t let you glorify it). I’m don’t necessarily mean to say that these ‘invisible’ pains and joys should be more visible - I just want to point out that the concept is useful. Also, I really like the use of imagery in the chosen terms ‘dark pain’ and ‘dark joy’ (it’s a strategy I sometimes use in my own writing).
